Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity
This quote has to be one of my favorites ever, as well as the best sentence in the book I've finished reading. I have covered this book before in previous blogs, "The Extinction of Experience." You guys are probably tired of me mentioning this book so many times already..but it really is that good! The reason why I love this quote so much is because it highlights something we often overlook; true presence. In such a fast-paced and distracted world where notifications and constant scrolling are the new norm, giving someone your full attention is incredibly rare. When you do, it signals that you value them above anything else. This kind of presence can heal, build trust, and nurture genuine human connection. Choosing to set aside your own thoughts, ego, and agenda to fully witness someone else's experience is a selfless, and even sacred act. I also like how this quote adds a different and deeper meaning to attention, making it not just a practical act, but a moral one as well. It implies that generosity isn't just about how much money or resources you can give someone; it's about how we show up for others.
So next time when you want to do something nice for someone, just give them your undivided attention. :)
