Lynsey Addario is an award-winning American photojournalist who has worked for The New York Times, the National Geographic, and TIME for more than two decades. She is known for documenting war zones, humanitarian crises, and women's issues in the Middle East and Africa. She was raised in Westport, Connecticut and attended university at UW Madison, Wisconsin. Ever since she was young, she was amazed by the power a camera had of capturing the raw moments of life. Her passion ignited knowing she could sell her photography and began pursuing a photography career while living in Argentina. After the 9/11 attacks, her career grew as she was sent on assignment to Afghanistan for The New York Times.
