Summary 𖤣.𖥧.𖡼.⚘:

The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s third book, stands as the supreme achievement of his career. First published in 1925, this quintessential novel of the Jazz Age has been acclaimed by generations of readers. The story of the mysteriously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan, of lavish parties on Long Island at a time when The New York Times noted “gin was the national drink and sex the national obsession,” it is an exquisitely crafted tale of America in the 1920s. - goodreads

Characters  𖤣.𖥧.𖡼.⚘:

Nick Carraway: Novel narrator. Yale graduate, WW1 veteran. Nick rents a house out next to Gatsby and becomes friends '

Jay Gatsby: Wealthy, mysterious man. Gatsby is deeply driven by Daisy Buchanan and is driven by the desire to recreate the past they once shared.

Daisy Buchanan: Nick´s cousin and Gatsby´s past lover, Daisy is delicate, beautiful, charming, but also shallow and careless

Tom Buchanan: Daisy´s wealthy and arrogant husband. Tom is aggressive and openly racist as well as unfaithful, having an affair with Myrtle Wilson

George Wilson: Myrtle’s husband, he is passive and eventually consumed by grief and suspicion. He is also a mechanic and garage owner

Myrtle Wilson: Tom´s mistress, Myrtle is desperate to escape her low-income class, She wants Tom to rescue her from her failed marriage with George.

Jordan Baker: Nick´s romantic interest for a short while, Jordan is a professional golfer. She is cynical and sometimes dishonest.

My own personal favorite characters have to be Nick and Jay Gatsby. Nick, although sometimes unreliable as a narrator, he was the only person who showed up to Gatsby´s funeral. Nick was there when Gatsby needed him the most and was a pretty good friend. I admired Gatsby´s extreme sense of hope for the future and his perseverance that allowed him to get in the position he is in in the first place.

Playlist for the book? This book has a default playlist already with it. It was sang by Lana Del Rey, ¨Young and Beautiful.¨ I ended up hearing the song way before reading the book, so it goes to say that the playlist did really well for itself. I love it alone and with the book since it adds nice context to the song.

Author style of writing 𖤣.𖥧.𖡼.⚘:
I really enjoyed how Fitzgerald used symbolism throughout the book. He put a lot of emphasis on colors and what they symbolized. Daisy was mostly in white which would go along with her innocent nature, and even the color of Tom and Gatsby´s car had something to say about them. It adds much more depth into the book and it makes me want to re-read it to get the most out of it. It´s an interesting jig saw puzzle to solve and put together!

This is a work of art in all its form and I would recommend everyone to read it because no word ever goes to waste!
